The Sydney University Graduate choir will celebrate its 75th Anniversary in 2027. It promises to be an exciting year full of inspiring and timeless music. The first concert will be held in the magnificent Sydney Town Hall , and as part of the successful “Sydney Sings” concerts two mighty works will be performed: Anton Bruckner’s “Te Deum” and the rarely performed Symphony No.2 “Lobgesang” by Felix Mendelssohn which contains a very substantial cantata as its last movement. One could descibe it as an homage to Ludwig van Beethoven which is quite fitting for the 200th Avnniversary since his death in 1827.

The second concert features the music of the Vienna School with works by Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven. Mozart’s “Coronation Mass” K.317, Haydn’s “Missa in Angustiis” also known as the “Nelson Mass” will be performed along with Beethoven’s “Opferlied” Op. 121b.

The third concert is one with a Christmas theme. Ottorino Respighi’s ““Lauda per la Nativita del Signore” will receive its first performance in Australia. Bruckner’s soaring motet “Ecce sacerdos magnus” will be complimented by John Rutter’s ever popular “Gloria”.
